Greetings!
Hello and welcome to Mozart Youth Camerata. This is our first newsletter about a group of really extraordinary young musicians for whom playing music with love and finesse is nothing less than a passion.
Our inaugural newsletter launches the Camerata's first fundraiser concert called "Kids for Children," which is scheduled for Sunday, February 20th, at Calvary Presbyterian Church in San Francisco. Showcasing music of Mozart, Bach, Chopin, Albeniz, I.Andriasov, and more, our benefit concert performance will introduce you to our brilliant Camerata and guest artists. Included in our program are soprano, Khori Dastoor, pianists Robert Schwartz and Audrey Vardanega, and the Jupiter Chamber Players. All proceeds benefit Children's Hospital Oakland. Don't miss hearing these wonderful kids rock out with classical music. Please share their passion to give back to the community. I look forward to seeing you!
Cheers,
George Cleve

Benefit Concert for Children's Hospital Oakland
A few months ago Tori Fukumitsu and I went to the Children's Hospital of Oakland for a personal tour of the facilities. At one point of the tour, we reached a set of double doors where we were told to wash our hands before entrance. The section of the hospital we were about to visit was the cancer wing. Upon entrance, Tori and I saw children from babies to teenagers receiving treatment for their serious rare forms of cancer. The wing had bulletin boards covered with pictures of children ranging from babies to teenagers who had not been so fortunate and had lost their lives despite Children's efforts to save their lives. We were both in a state of complete shock; not only did the realness of it all affect us but the fact that it could strike any normal child just like me and Tori affected us deeply. What had these particular children done to get cancer? Why were they fighting to live another day while we obsessed over trivialities? How did we know if we would ever find ourselves in their place? These were the questions that went through our minds after we stepped out of the ward, farther than most of the children with cancer would step in months, farther than some of the children would ever step again. Despite the conditions we witnessed in that hospital, Tori and I came out with hope. Our Benefit Concert on February 20 is dedicated to making a better world for those children suffering with cancer and other diseases. Audrey Vardanega, member of Mozart Youth Camerata

About Children's Hospital Oakland
The hospital is vital to our community. It serves all kids, even if the families can't afford to pay. In 2009, $45 million was spent taking care of kids whose families didn't have enough money to pay for their kids' healthcare.
Children's Hospital is the Bay Area's busiest pediatric intensive care unit, and is one of the largest sickle cell treatment and research centers in the world. Children's Hospital Oakland is the only independent pediatric hospital in Northern California and the only Level 1 pediatric trauma center in the Bay Area The hospital serves more than 200,000 patients visits per year.
Children's Hospital Oakland is more than healthcare. Children's is about life.
